Welcome Back to School.

What a wonderful start we've had to this school year.  Students are already back into the routine of school and selecting books to read.  Beginning this week, students are taking the STAR Enterprise test to determine book levels. This test is computer adaptive and test students on 36 reading skills in 5 reading domains.  Once the test is completed, your child and his/her teacher will conference and determine an independent reading goal for this first trimester.  Teachers will monitor your child's reading through various reports from Renaissance Place.  One report that I want to strongly encourage you to register for electronically is Home Connect.  Parents can access real-time information in English or Spanish, to help them stay up to date and keep their children motivated.  You will receive an email each time that your child takes an AR test with the score.  In addition to the score,  you will be able to view your child's overall progress on quizzes taken, points, and book level.  If you ever have concerns about your child's reading, please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or me kelly.mcgough@trussvillecityschools.com.
